A NEW INTERNATIONAL PHOTO CONTEST IS LOOKING FOR THE BEST PHOTOS ON ENVIRONMENTAL SUSTAINABILITY BY BULGARIAN AND SWISS PHOTOGRAPHERS

 

A new international photo contest organized by SMART Foundation, a Bulgarian based non-profit organization, is looking for the best photographic interpretations on the topic of Environmental Sustainability. Under the name “Human Between Today and Tomorrow” the contest is open for both professional and amateur photographers from Bulgaria and Switzerland.

In order to enter the competition for a prize fund of over EUR 1700, the photographers need to upload their best photos on the selected topic at www.smart-f.eu/contest/ till 23:59 on 12 March 2017. Application is entirely free and the authors keep all ownership rights over their photos.

Environmental sustainability is a crucial topic for both Bulgaria and Switzerland – our decisions and actions towards the environment today will define our life tomorrow”, said Mr. Alexander Kumanov, Project Manager. “This is why with the support of the Bulgarian-Swiss Cooperation Programme we decided to challenge photographers from both countries to show us their unique viewpoint of the future of environment.”

Selection of winners will be done by a professional jury consisting of Mr. Stoyan Nenov – Reuters photographer and the first Bulgarian to win a Pulitzer prize (2016 г), Mrs. Krasimira Velichkova, CEO of Bulgarian Donors Forum, and Mrs. Prolet Velkova, long-time journalist at Bulgarian National Darik Radio. There is also a special viewers’ prize that will go to the photo that gets the most votes in the system.

The 1st place winner chosen by the jury will get EUR 250 in cash and the opportunity to print a professional high-quality photo book worth EUR 1000. The photographer ranked second will receive EUR 200, and EUR 150 will go to the 3rd place winner. EUR 125 is the prize for the viewers’ choice photo.

Winners will be announced by 3 April 2017, and a selection of photos will be shown at 3 public exhibitions in Sofia and Plovdiv in the spring of 2017.
